Since it's been a number of months (and because I just finished a song rework that was being uncooperative), I thought I ought to post again.  I hope to have more time for fandom again after the holiday season, but in the meantime, please enjoy the song rework and three short poems.

First, the song rework.  Call this "Nobody's Fault" in a not-quite-duet.
"From a Distance" )

Next, House's perspective on the events of the episode.  This one is unusual for me: I write very few villanelles, since this particular French verse form is difficult to render well in English.  It's also in second person, which I hadn't experimented with before.  Still, I'm pleased with the result.
"Parallels" )

Switching to Chase's perspective, this is a jump rope poem, set during his yet-unwritten rehab/recovery period.
"Adapting" )

Finally, a triolet.  This is a form I learned relatively recently, but its circular structure seemed to suit the subject: Chase in early recovery, learning to manage a wheelchair.
"Around Again" )

Title: Wicked Girls of PPTH
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lit_luminary
Tune: "Wicked Girls Saving Ourselves" by Seanan McGuire.
Summary: Most of the time, it's the men of House who get center stage.  Let's take a moment to appreciate the women.

Title: Reclamation (House's Song)
Author: lit_luminary
Rating: PG
Summary: House, realizing his relationship with Cuddy means denying everything essential to himself, ends things with her. A song rework to the marvelously venomous tune of S. J. Tucker's "Girl with the Lion's Tail (Lucia's Song)."
Note: This is necessarily AU, as I only wish House had been this honest with himself in canon.

Borrowing this one from [livejournal.com profile] phinnia : first ten people to comment get a House drabble by request, to the prompt of their choosing.  (My particular strengths are House/Wilson friendship or relationship, House/Chase friendship, father/son or mentorship, general canon characterizations, and wildly AU stuff involving supernatural elements.  So if you want dæmons, werewolves, vampires and that sort of thing, I'm able and amenable.  Anything outside that list, I'll give my best effort.)

Now, this is going to end up going one of two ways: either fewer than ten people actually follow this journal (which I suspect, as they usually ever just stop by from the comms) and I will get to have a cynical laugh.  Or up to ten people will respond, and I'll be pleasantly and extremely surprised.

First, for [livejournal.com profile] misanthropicobs : "Something with House and Wilson set within the dæmonverse AAU, preferably from House's viewpoint."

Second, for [livejournal.com profile] bluerosefairy: "Rona and Minerva, making fun of the boys.  Because they're awesome."

Third, for [livejournal.com profile] phinnia : "Someone’s story of how their dæmon chose final form—House, Wilson or Chase, your choice."  (I ended up going with Chase, since that was the story that came to mind first.)

Fourth, for [livejournal.com profile] pasdepixie: "House/Chase mentorship/friendship with subtle kindness by House, set after Cameron's departure."  (Let's say after "Ignorance is Bliss."  Oh, and I disclaim the phrase "Amber Volakis Memorial Apartment," which I first read in a Television Without Pity recap.)

Fifth, for Nibis: "...House and Wilson join forces to take someone (who clearly deserves it) down a peg or two.  Any universe that suits your fancy."  (This one ended up being a song rework, set within the canon universe, but it's about as long as any of the prose drabbles.  Lucas is the target of House and Wilson's revenge.  Incidentally, if anyone is interested in the other songs I've reworked, check here.)

Several songs from Andromeda's perspective, about Chase and mother-love.  (To the tunes of  1) "The Past is Another Land" from Aida, 2) "Race You to the Top of the Morning" from The Secret Garden, and 3) "King of Pain" by The Police.)

1) Andromeda's Lament: A sorrow-song for a stifling marriage.

2) Just Before Bedtime: A story told and a promise made.

3) Keeping Vigil: Andromeda post-mortem, watching over Chase.

And one based canonically: House's perspective on Chase in the wake of the Dibala incident, to the tune of "Standing" from BtVS' Once More, With Feeling.

Another trio of House song reworks--as ever, links are supplied to instrumental accompaniment for singing purposes.  Two are canon-based; the third is set within "An Art of Balance," the coming "Principles" sequel.  (Vague spoiler warning for that one, but no more than the sonnets.)

1: "Despite Pain" to the tune of "King of Pain" by The Police.  House suffers, but he doesn't let it stop him from living his life.

2: "Let's Talk Now of Diagnosis" to the tune of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Never Mind the Why and Wherefore" from H.M.S. Pinafore.  You could call this one 'DDX in song, 2.0.'  Featuring House, the original fellows and a satirical tone.

3: "Andromeda's Eyes" to the tune of "Lily's Eyes" from The Secret Garden.  (Hyperlink supplied is to an MP3 of the original song, with vocals: listen, as it is gorgeous.  Instrumental version for singing is linked under the cut.)  Again, this one belongs to the dæmonverse AAU--a duet by Chase's aunts as they consider him and the sister they lost.

I love [info]ruby_took's House/Wilson Werewolf Saga. This is a good thing, because I beta-read it. As with most things I love, however, I tend to generate an enormous amount of writing related to it.  I'll get all my companion-fics up someday; for now, here's the current compilation of sonnets and song reworks, organized by which of the Saga's stories they tie into.

Welcome all to Operation: Get Collected Works in One Easily Accessible Place.  (Reposting this particular work, as I managed to screw up the HTML when editing a typo in the previous post.)

"DDX, With Feeling" (à la BtVS' endlessly versatile "Once More, With Feeling") was my initial foray into the House fandom.  With 17 meticulously reworked musical numbers, stage directions and dialogue, this piece is definitely a manifestation of my inner perfectionist.  Also my inner musical theater nut.  Please note that this edition includes links to MIDIs of the various instrumentals for your singing pleasure, and take time to appreciate the rhyme schemes and harmonies.

On with the show...

I must confess, I have a weak spot for filks (i.e., song reworks).  Count up a few dozen syllables, map a rhyme scheme, and that catchy tune takes on a new life.  Here are a few House filks, à la various Broadway shows.  As with the musical a few entries down, I've linked to MIDI files so you can sing along.  Enjoy!

Feedback is, of course, immeasurably appreciated.

Andromeda's lullaby, a continuing thread in "Principles", now has a tune and complete lyrics.  The tune is that of Vienna Teng's "Shine" (listen to a YouTube video of the original piece here); I wrote my own lyrics to fit.

Needless to say, feedback is very much appreciated.
